Thanks for sharing this. We need to remember this. They are the real heroes. Why doesn't someone make a movie about missionaries that risk their lives? Hollywood used to; remember "Inn of the Sixth Happiness" with Ingrid Bergman? Nowadays, we get movies that glamourize internet pornography.

I just saw a really good movie from 1944 - "None Shall Escape"; these protesters should watch it. It's in black-and-white, and was made before WW2 had even ended. It's the story of a German-Polish WW1 veteran who becomes a top Nazi official in the ministry of Eduction. He meets Hitler in the 20s and spends time in prison with him as he writes Mein Kampf. Several years later, once Hitler rises to power, the Nazi officer eventually sends his own family to a concentration/indoctrination camp. He then returns to his Polish village in 1939, and uses the women as prostitutes for the Nazi officers. Israelis do not do this. These protesters need to read history. This was also one of the first movies to show a cold-blooded massacre of a group of Jews.

Very well put. Thanks for sharing these links. I'd like to point out Genesis 17, specifically verse 15-21, where Scripture is very clear that the promise is between Abraham and Sarah, and the descendants of their child, Issac, who was the father of Jacob.

Muslims claim this the promise was meant for Ishmael, which is not true, but they will not accept this, another reason we have all these problems.

The first solution is not to despair. Things look bad, but they looked awfully bad during the 70s, and the 1870s. Pretty soon after Toqueville's monumental volume on America came out, which early on pointed out that (paraphrasing) America is great because it is good, moralizers and doomsayers started saying that we were no longer good and therefore destined to fall from greatness.

So do not despair. On most moral issues, the polls, if not the pols have been trending in the conservative direction since Clinton's Presidency.

Cap and Trade and the Healthcare fiasco both look to be defeated (as the Amnesty in Disguise bill was defeated a few years ago). When the Left overreaches, America reacts, and Obama is overreaching like few before him could have imagined.

First, welcome back to the blog! Secondly, I think it is in the nature of democracies to self-destruct. Especially those that are without a moral center, which would increasingly describe the U.S., as Americans become more and more polarized between libertine libertarians and lazy let-the-government-do-its-thing-everyone-is-corrupt-anyway-whats-the-use-het0whats-on-tv-tonight apolitical folk. (And then there are the left-wing true blue (red) socialists, but they are a minority -- Obama is indeed one of them.)

There's been a book published recently by Paul Rahe, professor at Hillsdale, called "Soft Despotism: Democracy's Drift". http://yalepress.yale.edu/yupbooks/book.asp?isbn=9780300144925 Yeah.. .so what's the solution?

The DVDs were an especially poor choice not only because of region 5 versus region 1 or whatnot, but also because Gordon Brown may be losing his eyesight: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/labour/3178318/Gordon-Browns-eyesight-is-causing-concern-among-aides.html Way to rub it in, Mr. President! But as someone said to me today about this -- "who CARES? These gift exchanges are pretty silly." Well maybe this tradition is silly, but the symbolism is not. Traditions are significant because of their cultural pointers, and the historical memory they represent.
